Our Club

OLT was formed in December 2011 and chose Leybourne Lake’s Ocean Lake as its base because of the facilities for quality open water swimming and its partnership with Leybourne Lake Water Sport Centre. As we grew in membership in 2012 we started a branch in Canterbury, based at Simon Langton Boys school to cover the east area of Kent.

Our vision is to be the leading Triathlon Club in Kent and South East. Our aim is to develop a friendly and competitive Triathlon Club for all abilities and to host quality Triathlon Events that can be enjoyed by all levels of triathlete. We promote a ‘Whole Club Ethos’, so whether you are an elite athlete or a novice or a returning athlete or a late bloomer you have a place in our club.

At the heart of what we do is sharing our experiences to support novice, junior, youth and even elite members in our exciting and relatively new sport. Coached sessions will support all abilities and be led by qualified BTF coaches in a fun and challenging manner.

Our club is registered with the British Triathlon Federation and the Cycling Time Trials (CTT) for time trial racing.

We offer four levels of membership:

Adult - full member
Adult - single discipline member (either swim, bike or run)
Student - full member (subsidised for full-time students)
Junior - full member (subsidised)

Please see our Membership page for more details.

Club structure

Ocean Lake Triathlon has operated with the founding committee structure for two years now. With the successful growth of our membership and race events over the past years we now have a more structured committee to take OLT beyond 200 members and offer quality standard events.
